In this role you will report to CTO and you'll be responsible for long term strategy and improvement of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) function, incl. Research & Development (R&D) partnerships, strategic workforce planning coordination and footprint optimization. 

Location: The role needs to reside in either Sweden or United States

• Project definition for GDP

• Governmental Affairs road map

Where to Play

• Based on market trends, safety needs and future regulations and rating opportunities, coordinate “where to play” together with Sales.
• Based on target markets and segments, define Governmental Affairs agenda to influence policy makers and unlock market opportunities

Competitive Products &Solutions

• Own, improve and run the Strategic Product Planning process delivering the Group Product Plan by consolidating cross-functional input.
• Plan, prioritize and realize technology development by being responsible for the Group Technology Plan and the Global System Architecture.
• Optimization of the Product Management portfolio to ensure strategic fit for profitable growth.
• Define Global Development Project cost targets in close collaboration with Total cost targets per Product Line

Efficient Value Delivery

• Lead strategic and special R&D projects.
• Responsibility for R&D budget Management and Efficiency focus to create sufficient funding for potentially disruptive, early-stage innovation opportunities with focus on World 1^st Creation.
• Proactively support quotation process to secure promotion of right products for customer solution fit and involve Chief Engineers accordingly to validate right solution.
• Product Lifecycle Responsibility.
• Maintaining the CTO-office agenda
• In addition to working within the RD&E function, role needs to interact cross-functionally within Autoliv to balance short-, mid- and long-term Product and Technology needs Globally and Divisionally.
• Main forum for governance is the Industrial/Product Board and Innovation Council/Board in which the role has an active participation.
• Responsibility for external RDE eco system and strategic partnerships
