IT Infrastructure Senior Engineer, Data Center Linux

Key Responsibilities of the Position:
Support the activities to implement, control and maintain standards applicable to Linux operating system devices
Support the activities to implement, control and maintain tools and software which are used and required in the Linux environment
Implement and support automation on the Linux environment
Deliver a secure Linux operating system following our OS hardening process
Work with the Linux expert to define business requirements on projects
Provide level 2 and level 3 support for the Linux environment with the main focus on level 3 support
Support the definition activities for our operational procedures and handover solutions and processes to 2nd and 1st level support
Support lifecycle management and capacity planning activities; review and upgrade technical infrastructure, tools and Linux devices
System documentation & creation and / or review of Knowledge Base articles
Position Requirements:
Very strong Linux Operating system knowledge (focus on Rocky, Ubuntu)
Very strong background on Linux system management tools (eg Puppet, Foreman, Ansible, and more)
Automation and scripting capabilities
Strong documentation and communication skills
Significant skills and experience in managing enterprise solutions in the Linux operating system area
Senior level practical technical skills in an Enterprise Linux environment are expected
Strong service management (service definition, incident and change management, etc.). ITIL training/certification is a plus.
Candidates should have further experience managing the technologies listed below:
Enterprise Linux on physical servers, client hardware, IOT devices, mini-computer (e.g. Raspberry Pi) and similar devices
Server virtualization with VMWare
Enterprise Storage (SAN / NAS / Fabric / etc.)
Application and client virtualization (Citrix, RDS, VDI)
Cloud Services (Public and Private cloud / Hypervisor); Azure emphasis
Job experience:
5-10 years in Enterprise IT or a technical consultancy type of role, significant experience in the Linux operating system area
Educational requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (3-4 years) or equivalent qualification
Relevant industry certifications are a plus (vendor certifications, etc.)
Additional Requirements:
Light to moderate travel requirements with some international requirements.
Must be flexible in working hours. Hours will primarily be 8:00am - 5:00pm (depending on location) although must be able to support various hours of project activities / conference calls to collaborate with other regions on projects.
