In this role you will be responsible for:
- Main contact and lead engineer for our Linux operating system environment (Plan, coordinate, maintain, document, forecast activities in our global Linux environment)
- Define, implement, control & maintain standards applicable to the Linux server, client and edge-devices operating systems
- Define, implement, control & maintain tools and software which are used and required in the Linux environment
- Work on automation on the Linux environment
- Deliver a secure Linux operating system following our hardening process
- Lifecycle Management & Capacity Planning; Review and upgrade technical infrastructure and Linux devices
- System documentation & creation and / or review of KBs
- Work with the business to define business requirements on projects.
- Provide level 2 and level 3 support for the Linux environment
- Define operational procedures and handover solutions and processes to 2nd/1st level support
If you have/are:
- Bachelor’s degree (3-4 years).
- Relevant industry certifications are a plus (vendor certifications, Microsoft, etc.)
- Very strong Linux Operating system knowledge for server and client (Rocky, Ubuntu)
- Very strong background on Linux management tools (eg Foreman, Ansible, Puppet and more)
- Automation and scripting capabilities
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Significant skill and experience in designing enterprise solutions in the Linux operating system area
- Senior or expert level practical technical skills in an Enterprise Linux server and client environment are expected
- Strong service management (service definition, incident and change management, etc.). ITIL training/certification is a plus.
- You should have further experience managing the technologies listed below:
- Enterprise Linux – server, edge-devices, IOT and mini-computer (e.g. Raspberry Pi) distributions, etc.
- Enterprise Server (physical, virtual, HPCC, etc.)
- Server virtualization (Broadcom, etc.)
- Enterprise Storage (SAN / NAS / Fabric / etc.)
- Windows Server OS
- Application and client virtualization (Citrix, RDS, VDI - Virtual Desktop Infrastructure)
- Cloud Services (Public and Private cloud / Hypervisor); Azure emphasis
